Google says bye-bye to Checkout, hello to Wallet in mobile payment move
Google made a move this week to get its mobile payment house in order, putting all its weight behind Google Wallet and essentially shuttering Google Checkout, which never took off as it had hoped.
Google Checkout was an easy way to pay for apps in the Android Market, but Wallet (CP: Google Wallet launches with Visa, sort of), said Google, will now handle that and more.
AT&T exec: We’re hanging on to iPhone customers
The iPhone may have made its way to other carriers, but customers at AT&T – which had an exclusive on the iconic device for years – aren’t following. CWA hopes Verizon tax dodging report will get Congressional super committee attention
As promised, Citizens for Tax Justice and Good Jobs First today released a report arguing that Verizon has “shortchanged government” through tax dodging and subsidies. The creation of the report was spearheaded by the Communications Workers of America, which represents the majority of 45,000 Verizon union workers who are currently working without a contract while the CWA negotiates with their employer—a process that has been ongoing since this summer.
