I agree with that the cost savings argument is not the main reason for moving to the cloud however, there is a cost of mobility i.e., companies would have to spend money in order to facilitate mobility. In that scenario, the cloud may be a cheaper alternative than say having to have redundant sites around the world and maintaining data consistency/coherency. The cloud\'s multi-tenacy characteristic should be able to provide a reduced cost vs a single company having to create their own infrastructure to support mobility.

I'm an analyst that covers this area, and I am not at all surprised that mobile payments has problems. You first have to ask yourself, what major problem does mobile payments solve? Not much of any. Currently I have to swipe a plastic card in my wallet and I've purchased something. Since I likely carry money and a drivers license, I don't think carrying a credit card or debit card is a major hassle.

On the down side, phones get hacked, my phone is always network connected and therefore susceptible, and I'm not so sure I want my wireless operator to have access to all the purchases I've made.

So mobile payments is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

The research notwithstanding, cable company have to realize that most of their content is RERUNS. OTT offers reruns at a more practical price. Plus like DVRs, OTT can be viewed at any time with little or no commercials. The public as a whole has not realized the significant savings and offeriings OTT presents. OTT is part of the solution. Along with DVDs, possibly a la carte sports programming, broadcast tv and internet. This is the entertainment solution of the future.

THAT would be the problem, it\\\\\\\'s ALL a game.

No free market competion, just the usual Fed Gub\\\\\\\'mint beaureaucrats attempting to pick winners & losers, or extract some political donations or benefit.

No wonder true unemployment levels are in the teens. Anytime a company tries to create a job, the Gub\\\\\\\'mint steps in and puts a halt to it. See Boeing in SC, the Keystone Pipeline, Gibson Guitar, the fracking natural gas exploration industry, the gulf oil drilling industry, etc. etc. etc.

All for our own \\\\"protection\\\\" of course. We no longer have \\\\"government of the people, by the people, and for the people\\\\". We have government of the elites, by the elites, and for the elites. Crony capitalism at its worst.

Tea Party, anyone?

Just tried out Kindle Fire that came in mail yesterday. The screen is way too small to watch videos, so I don't understand why people are doing that.

Also, the device has no buttons, no virtual keyboard or other means of navigating. It is pure touch screen. Feels very uncomfortable to someone who has used PCs since 1988

it helps that my kindle fire supports flash that i can view videos on just about any website that has embedded video content.

also at 7" it is much more of a portable device than the over sized ipad

so far only drawbacks are:
no camera
no microphone input
no external storage drives (SD card or what have you)
WiFi only (good thing my android phone can act as an access point)

but for $200 it sure beats the ipad, and unlike my netbook i take it everywhere i go since it is so portable.

I'm seeing a rapid maturing of the mobile ad banner industry from where I'm sitting. While the ad types are still pretty limited, agencies are definitely seeing the value of mobile web and mobile app inventory, and retailers are cranking out apps and mobie web sites to accommodate the growing legions of those equipped with smartphones -- overall, the U.S. is not far from 50% smartphone penetration.

I’m curious to determine how iCloud handles high-res pictures submitted in the computer and downloaded towards the apple iphone, but without doubt we’ll discover in no time. Exactly what do everyone think?

Pls check out my website http://www.streetlabmobile.com/apple-icloud-syncs-apps-media-settings-across-devices and let me know what you think.

I sincerely believe the service on AT&T is getting better with the iPhone. My company made the iPhone the primary communications devise overall and even went as far to remove all our desk phones. We now have only the iphone running the Cisco app for business calls and our personal number is on the cellular network. They placed a iFusion docking stations at all our desk and I like this thing for It has the traditional handset. Overall I don’t experience any issues like the past and I really like the fact I’m not answering two phones anymore.
