Oil prices have risen again. But although viewed as an ill wind by most of us, one company that has benefitted from news such as this is ERF Wireless.
As Connected Planet has reported, one of the company’s specialties is serving the unique communications needs of the oil and gas industry by establishing short-term wireless voice and data networks using equipment that can be moved from drilling site to drilling site. This enables a high-paid geologist to remotely review data from multiple drilling sites, maximizing his efficiency, ERF Wireless Chief Executive H. Dean Cubley told Connected Planet in an interview this week.
Business in the oil and gas unit has been growing “almost exponentially” since we last spoke with ERF Wireless, said Cubley. As a result of last year’s oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, he said, “there is a lot more attention focused on land-side drilling–combined with the increasing price of oil, it’s created a lot of activity.”
ERF also continues to operate other business units focused on other vertical markets such as banking and education—and the company is still in the market to buy more broadband wireless companies, having acquired at least a dozen already.
