Verizon has announced its FiOS on Demand application is now available for a limited number of Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile 6.5 mobile devices. The app allows mobile users to watch movies from the FlexView video on demand collection, which can be purchased or rented for up to 30 days directly from the mobile phone.
Engadget has more:
“Of course, you won’t simply be limited to watching the movies on your phone; you can also transfer them from your phone to your PC, and view them on any combination of up to four devices in addition to a FiOS TV set-top box.”
Verizon has been quite busy the past year on efforts and applications, such as FiOS Mobile Remote, that blur the lines between its home-bound FiOS TV service and its growing list of video-capable mobile phones. While being able to use your mobile phone for remote DVR management was a nice start, it’s good to see Verizon moving beyond that and understanding that what customers might want the most out of multi-screen services is flexibility.
For its part, AT&T offered up a mobile app to watch “side-loaded” DVR content earlier this year.
