I am a long time user of Nokia phones (currently E71x with AT&T) and a new owner of a HTC Hero on Sprint. I need two phones on different carriers for coverage reasons (AT&T drops a lot of calls) and I can only get Nokia 3G on AT&T. Nothing I have tried give me the business features I need like Nokia.

Here are a few early observations.

1. The Hero is very nice and fun to use. It however currently is missing a lot of the quick access I have to necessary applications.

2. It does not allow Bluetooth sending/receiving of contact information.

3. The Hero is actually larger than the E71x but gets the same battery life.

4. I cannot switch all that I do to the Hero, but I continue to use the side by side with the Nokia.

5. Sprint CDMA/EVDO 3G does not allow voice and data at the same time. AT&T 3G does.

6. Hero/Android does a great job of syncing with Gmail, Google Voice, and Google Calendar all automatically. Nokia OVI is totally manual and the last sync I did with OVI duplicated all my calendar entries. Yes, I made a backup before and had to do a restore.

Will android really kick Nokia's butt long term? Not unless they get the rest of the features needed. People may leave Nokia for a while, but if (like me) they don't get all they need, they will go back. I admit I am eying the N97 Mini and N900.
