Mobile application testing and development company DeviceAnywhere today introduced its new self-certification technology called Proof Center designed to reduce the time and expense of certifying mobile apps and content. According to the company, certification and testing remain the greatest barriers to realizing revenues quickly from mobile app development, especially as more app stores are launched and open mobile development gains steam.
Proof Center, coupled with DeviceAnywhere’s mobile testing platform, lets developers self-test their content submissions against the requirements of operators, operating systems or handset manufacturers. All test results, including handset screenshots or video are automatically compiled into saved proofs, organized by app and handset, viewable in the online Proof Center or files for submission.
Many application store owners have their own certification programs and some, including Microsoft Window’s Marketplace for Mobile, charge for the process. Those with less stringent requirements often come under the scrutiny of consumers upset with the inferior quality, according to CEO and founder Faraz Syed. Certification ensures apps will operate properly and can be trusted by consumers.
DeviceAnywhere provides mobile developers with access to more than 2,000 mobile devices connected to live networks to develop, test, and monitor their content and applications. This is the most cost effective way to collaborate from remote locations and develop for as many handsets, platforms and carrier networks as possible, Syed said in a February interview. The company also announced today that mobile financial services provider Mobile Money Ventures will use DeviceAnywhere for real-time remote testing and development services of its device and network agnostic global service.
With DeviceAnywhere, companies can use a PC interface to connect to the handset of their choice and interact with it – press keys, touch the screen, download apps – to test advanced features as if it were in their hands. The technology was made in collaboration with mBlox and OpenMarket.
